Pudina (Mint) leaves are also known as Mentha. Originally, Pudina/Mint leaves was used as a medicinal herb in ancient days. 

It is still being used as a medicine by Tamilians to treat stomach pains, as you know Tamilians are known for preserving and following the roots of their ancestors.  


Mint is fast-growing herb. It can be grown in indoor and outdoor gardens. Space mint plants 18 to 24 inches apart. 

Health Benefits of Mint:
Mint leaves are loaded with anti-oxidants and phytonutrients, which provide relief to the stomach muscles and help in digestion.
It soothes the stomach instantly and works wonders when treating tummy troubles.
May mask bad breath .

Healthy Cooking Method:

Mint leaves can be cooked in many ways to get the most delicious taste out. I have provided the most easiest at the same time healthy way of cooking the Mint Rice is explained below.

Easy Recipe :

Ingredients

To grind:
A bunch of mint leaves
2-3 green chilies (according to your spice level)
  
For Cooking Rice:

1 cup organic rice 
1 large onion sliced
1 spoon ginger garlic paste
2 cloves 

1 cardamom 
1 bay leaf 
2 cups of water

Salt as required

Procedure:


Wash 2-3 times with water and soak the organic rice for 30 mins

Grind mint and green chilies to paste

Heat pressure cooker, add oil and spices

Add onions and saute it for 4 mins

Add ginger garlic paste and fry it

Add the ground paste and cook well till the raw smell goes and oil separates

Add water, salt and bring it to boil

Add rice, check for seasoning and close the cooker

Cook on medium flame for two whistles and switch it off

Add few drops of ghee to enhance the taste

Serve the delicious Mint Rice with curd salad.
