Murungakkai Poriyal (Simple Moringa Fry with peanut powder)

The miracle tree - moringa  (also called drumstick in British) derived from the Tamil word Murungai, meaning twisted pod, which implies to young fruit.  

முருங்கை (Moringa) is introduced by முருகன் (Lord Murugan) to people to grow population after the deluge in lost continent kumarikandam / lemuria - as moringa is a natural viagara.

Moringa is a fast-growing tree and can reach up to 3 meters in 1 year.

Healthy Cooking Method:

Moringa can be cooked in many ways to get the most delicious taste out. I have provided the most easiest at the same time healthy way of cooking the Moringa is explained below.

Easy Recipe :

Bring the moringa (1-2 pods) to boil and cook them until soft.

Discard the remaining water.

Meanwhile, ground the roasted peanuts (1 small cup) along with garlic cloves (4-5) and chilly powder (1/2 tablespoon) coarsely. 

Set aside. 

Heat oil in a pan.

Add mustard seeds, once the seeds starts to splutter, add black gram aka urad dal and split chick peas aka channa dal. 

Fry the above for 1-2 minutes. 

Add a bunch of curry leaves and a pinch of turmeric. 

Now immediately add the cooked moringa to the pan.

Add required salt.

Mix and saute it for 3-4 minutes.

Finally add the coarse peanut powder. Adjust salt as needed.
